Are custom flags available in a sustainable fabric?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is the only thing we make. Every custom flag is printed on CiCLO®-enhanced polyester or on Hemptex® hemp, made of natural fibres with no plastic fibres. CiCLO® polyester biodegraded 90 to 94% in independent ASTM lab tests, after 952 to 1,362 days, in soil, landfill, seawater and wastewater. The full test data is on our sustainability page.

Which material should I choose for my design?

Accepted Answer

It depends on where the flag will fly. Choose Hemptex® hemp if you want a flag with no plastic fibres and a matte, natural look; it suits a town hall, an office, indoors and Pride on a fixed pole. Choose CiCLO® polyester if you need what polyester does: a lighter flag that unfurls in less wind, in bright colours; it suits a one-day event, a beach flag, a boat (polyester dries fast), a rush order and a Pride parade. At home, on a facade or for a festival season, either works. Choose the material in the configurator; not sure? Ask for a sample of both. More on hemp flags and biodegradable flags.

How do I get a quote?

Choose a flag type, then pick the size, quantity, material and finishing in the configurator and upload your artwork. You see the price as you go and can pay directly, or request a quote and receive it by e-mail with a link to pay when you are ready. We are happy to advise on artwork and finishing.

How do I care for my Better Flag?

Accepted Answer

Wash it only when it needs it: a Hemptex® flag by hand or on a gentle cycle at 30 °C, a CiCLO® flag on a gentle cycle at 30 °C, both with mild detergent and no fabric softener (no bleach for Hemptex®). Never tumble dry it: hang it up to dry, a Hemptex® flag in the shade, and store it completely dry and folded, out of the sun. Take it in during storms and from wind force 6. Washing does not start the biodegradation of CiCLO®.

How durable is a custom Better Flag?

Accepted Answer

Both materials deliver the high performance you would expect from a quality flag: dye-sublimation printed CiCLO® polyester with double-stitched edges, or pigment-printed Hemptex® hemp. How long a flag lasts depends on wind, sun and how often it flies.
